Dr. Catharine Farrow - Doctor of Science ('89, '25)

Biography
Dr. Catharine Farrow is a Professional Geoscientist (APGO) and accredited Corporate Director (ICD.D) with more than 30 years’ experience in the mining industry. She is an Independent Director of Franco-Nevada Corporation, ALS Limited, Eldorado Gold Corporation, Aclara Resources Inc. (Lead Director) and until its acquisition in December 2024, Centamin PLC (now AngloGold Ashanti). Catharine is also Board Chair of Exiro Minerals Corp.
She is President of FarExGeoMine Ltd., Advisory Board Chair of ReThinkMining Ventures, and a Member of the Metrolinx Capital Oversight Committee. Until 2022, she was Program Director of the Osgoode Mining Law Program at York University, Chair of the Advisory Board of the Mineral Exploration Research Centre, Harquail School of Earth Sciences, Member of the Goodman School of Mines Advisory Board, and an Adjunct Professor from 1995 to 2021, all at Laurentian University.
From 2012-17 she was Founding CEO, Director and Co-Founder of TMAC Resources Inc. (now Agnico Eagle Mines Ltd.) in Canada’s High Arctic. Before TMAC, Catharine was COO of KGHM International (formerly Quadra FNX Mining Ltd.). Previously at Quadra FNX and FNX Mining Company Inc., she held senior executive roles in a variety of mining- and business-related disciplines. She began her career with Inco Ltd. and the Ontario Geological Survey.
In 2024, she received an Honorary Doctorate from Laurentian. She has been honoured with Acadia University’s Distinguished Alumni Award (2020), as one of the 100 Global Inspirational Women in Mining (2015 and 2018), and is a past recipient of the William Harvey Gross Medal of the Geological Association of Canada (2000). She holds a BSc (Honours) in Geology from Mount Allison University, an MSc in Geology from Acadia, and a PhD in Earth Sciences from Carleton University. She also has a Professional Certificate in Cybersecurity Leadership from Cornell University (2024).
